More than 150 millimetres of rain fell in the city (Christchurch), the most in seven days since 153mm of rain caused flooding in April 1974.

In some parts of Canterbury, the weekly rainfall topped the 163mm recorded during Cyclone Giselle in 1968.

The wettest seven-day period was in June 1894, when 207mm fell.
